Jasmine
The JASMINE comes from the family of Campari cocktails, though it has less of the Italian red bitter flavor as a Negroni. Gin and lemon juice dominate the mix, while orange liqueur and Campari assume supporting roles and round out the flavor.
Requirements: London dry gin, Campari, orange liqueur (Cointreau preferred), fresh lemon juice, simple syrup (optional),lemon twist for garnish
- 1.5 oz. gin
- 1/2 oz. Campari
- 1/2 oz. orange liqueur
- 3/4 oz. fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp. simple syrup (optional)
- 1 lemon peel for garnish
Add ingredients to an ice-filled shaker. Shake vigorously and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon peel.
Comments: My preferred recipe (above) adds a quarter-ounce more Campari and orange liqueur than other published recipes. To use only a quarter-ounce of Campari and orange liqueur leaves the drink tasting of mostly gin & lemon and cries out for additional sweetening. The recipe above is fuller and more three-dimensional, leaving simple syrup optional.
