Ginger Cosmo Martini

The GINGER COSMO MARTINI is a light, refreshing version of a Cosmo with additional ginger flavoring. Offsetting ginger with Cointreau is a winning combination. Its aftertaste is very summery and at times tastes more like grapefruit than ginger. There are a few recipes for the Ginger Cosmo floating around; but this is the simplest and best. The recipe below is from a book of New Orleans cocktails titled Big Easy Cocktails, authored by Jimmy Bannos and John DeMers.

Requirements: ginger-flavored vodka (pre-infused vodka with fresh ginger is preferred*), Cointreau, lime juice, cranberry juice

• 3 oz. (2 jiggers) ginger-flavored vodka
• 1.5 oz. (1 jigger) Cointreau
• .75 oz. (1 pony) lime juice
• 1.5 oz. (1 jigger cranberry juice

Combine all ingredients in an ice-filled shaker. Shake vigorously and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
