Necromancer

The NECROMANCER is a tangy absinthe-influenced cocktail pleasure with some magic from elderflower liqueur, Lillet blanc and lemon juice. A dash of gin provides balance, leaving you with hints of citrus, herbs and honey. It’s a variation of the Corpse Reviver No.2 using elderflower liqueur instead of orange liqueur.

Requirements: absinthe, elderflower liqueur, Lillet blanc, dry gin, lemon juice, lemon twist

• 3/4 oz. absinthe
• 3/4 oz. elderflower liqueur
• 3/4 oz. Lillet blanc
• 3/4 oz. lemon juice
• 1/2 oz. dry gin
• 1 lemon twist for garnish

Add ingredients to an ice-filled shaker. Shake vigorously and strain into a coup or cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon peel.

History: The Corpse cocktails, which would jokingly “wake one from the dead,” date back to the 1870’s. The wizard in this drink’s creation was NY mixologist, Mayur Subbarao. It’s a riff on the Corpse Reviver No.2, reducing the gin and increasing absinthe.
