Classic Daiquiri
It’s International Rum Day on Monday, August 16th! For the occasion, extend your weekend with the CLASSIC DAIQUIRI. It’s simple and balanced when high quality ingredients are used, not to be confused with the fruity frozen drink served poolside on vacations. The Classic Daiquiri recipe calls for a mix of white (silver) rum and demerara sugar syrup, although simple syrup is okay to use. Attention to detail will pay off in achieving the perfect balance of sweet & acidity.
Requirements: Light rum, fresh lime juice, demerara sugar syrup (or simple syrup), lime twist or wheel
- 2 oz. light rum
- 1 oz. fresh lime juice
- 3/4 oz. demerara sugar syrup (or 1/2 oz. simple syrup)
- lime twist for garnish
Combine all liquid ingredients into an ice-filled shaker and shake vigorously. Strain into a chilled coupe and garnish with a lime twist or lime wheel.
Special Notes: It’s recommended that the limes are rolled before juicing and then squeezed by hand, versus a juicer. The oils from the rind add an extra flash of intensity that gives the cocktail a nice, bright edge.
