French Harvest

Fall’s version of the French 75 is the FRENCH HARVEST. Instead of the gin-lemon-Prosecco combo of a French 75, the French Harvest uses gin, lemon juice and sparkling cider. The bubbles from sparkling apple cider give this a nice autumn taste to suit the season.

Requirements: dry gin (Nolet’s recommended), sparkling cider (Le Brun organic cider recommended), lemon juice, simple syrup, lemon twist

  • 1.5 oz. dry gin
  • 3/4 oz. lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. simple syrup
  • sparkling cider (chilled) to top

Mix gin, lemon juice and simple syrup in an ice-filled shaker. Shake vigorously and strain into a champagne flute. Top the glass with chilled sparkling cider and garnish with a lemon peel.

History: This was created by the Denver-based food & travel writer, Linnea Covington.

Comment: If you happen to have organic sparkling cider, this drink is a must. It’s a nice cocktail to serve in the fall, especially for brunch, or anytime a light fizzy drink suits the mood. Using a dry gin like Beefeater’s worked fine for me, as did Martinelli’s organic sparkling cider.
