Little Devil
The LITTLE DEVIL has a lemony bite to it, but that’s as devilish as it gets. In fact, my preferred recipe below reduces the lemon in order to allow the other flavors from rum, gin and Cointreau to ascend and produce a more harmonious tasting experience.
Requirements: gin, light (white) rum, Cointreau, fresh lemon juice
- 1 oz. gin
- 1 oz. light rum
- 1/2 oz. Cointreau
- 1/4 oz. (2 tsps) lemon juice
Add ingredients to an ice-filled shaker. Shake vigorously and strain into a chilled coupe or cocktail glass.
Comments: This is a great Halloween-themed drink for late October. Most recipes call for equal parts Cointreau and fresh lemon juice. The mix above reduces the lemon juice to make it less tart. But for those who love a devilish amount of lemon in their drinks, match the lemon juice to Cointreau at one-half ounce per serving.
