Pomegranate Margarita
Just in time for national margarita day comes the POMEGRANATE MARGARITA. Adding the sweet-tart flavor of pomegranate juice to the usual suspects of a standard margarita yields a delicious margarita variation. One can also argue that the anti-oxidants in pomegranate juice is a healthy addition to the margarita.
Requirements: tequila blanco, Cointreau, pomegranate juice, lime juice, agave syrup (or simple syrup), salt, lime wheel (optional)
- 1.5 – 2 oz. tequila blanco
- 3/4 oz. Cointreau (or other orange liqueur)
- 1 oz. pomegranate juice
- 3/4 oz. lime juice
- 1/2 oz. agave syrup (or simple syrup)
If salt is desired, wet the rim of a margarita or rocks glass with the juice of lime and rub the rim onto a plate of salt. Fill same glass with ice. Add ingredients to an ice-filled shaker. Shake to chill and strain into the salt-rimmed glass. Garnish with a lime wheel (optional).
Comments: The stronger 2 oz. tequila is preferred, in which case orange liqueur may be increased (or not) to 1 oz.
