Necromancer

The NECROMANCER is a tangy, absinthe-influenced cocktail with a touch of magic from elderflower liqueur, Lillet blanc and lemon juice. A dash of gin balances the flavors, leaving hints of citrus, herbs and honey. It’s a variation of the Corpse Reviver No.2 using elderflower liqueur instead of orange liqueur.

Requirements: absinthe, elderflower liqueur, Lillet blanc, dry gin, lemon juice, lemon twist

  • 3/4 oz. absinthe
  • 3/4 oz. elderflower liqueur
  • 3/4 oz. Lillet blanc
  • 3/4 oz. lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz. dry gin
  • 1 lemon twist for garnish

Add the ingredients to an ice-filled shaker. Shake vigorously and strain into a coupe or cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon peel.

History: The Corpse cocktails, which would jokingly “wake one from the dead,” date back to the 1870s. The mastermind behind this drink’s creation was NY mixologist Mayur Subbarao.
