Kingston
The KINGSTON COCKTAIL pairs Jamaican rum with coffee liqueur and, as with other Kahlua-type drinks, is especially enjoyable after dinner or on festive occasions. If using a dark Jamaican rum like Myers, the rum’s notes of caramel, chocolate and honey mix deliciously with coffee liqueur. With just a dash of lime juice, it’s an easy two-ingredient cocktail prepared in minutes.
Requirements: Jamaican rum (Myers’s Dark preferred), coffee liqueur, lime juice
- 2 oz. Jamaican rum
- 1 oz. coffee liqueur
- 1 tsp. lime juice
Add ingredients to an ice-filled shaker. Shake vigorously and pour into a chilled cocktail glass.
Comments: There are numerous recipes for “Kingston” cocktails. This one is my favorite for it’s tasty blend of rum’s caramel & molasses flavors with coffee and is credited to James Waller’s Drinkology book. Besides Myers, some other Jamaican rums to consider are Appleton Estate, Hampden, Blackwell & Hamilton.
