Havana Cocktail

The HAVANA COCKTAIL is a frothy pineapple-and-rum cocktail mixed with lemon juice that leans more toward tart than sweet. In its simplicity, the drink remains balanced and refreshing without becoming overly sweet like a rum punch. A dash of orange juice can be added if you prefer it a touch sweeter.

Requirements: light (white) rum, pineapple juice, lemon juice, orange juice (optional)

  • 2 oz. light rum
  • 2 oz. pineapple juice
  • 1/2 oz. lemon juice
  • 3/4 oz. orange juice (optional)

Add ingredients to an ice-filled shaker. Shake vigorously and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Comments: For a lighter, simpler cocktail, I prefer just the rum, pineapple, and lemon juices above. This is the suggested recipe mix by James Waller in his book, DRINKOLOGY. For those who prefer a sweeter rum drink, orange juice should do the job and it also adds another citrus layer to enjoy.
