Bittersweet Jack
The BITTERSWEET JACK gives Jack Daniel’s a nice flavor-lift with a dash of apricot liqueur and orange curacao. It’s stirred and served like a Manhattan, but with no vermouth involved it resembles more an Old Fashioned.
Requirements: Jack Daniel’s whiskey, apricot liqueur, orange curacao, Angostura bitters, orange peel
- 2 oz. Jack Daniel’s
- 1/4 oz. apricot liqueur
- 1/4 oz. orange curacao
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1 orange peel for garnish
Fill a mixing glass with ice and combine ingredients. Stir to chill and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with an orange peel.
Comments: Because only a quarter-ounce apricot liqueur and orange curacao are used for one serving, it makes sense to prepare the Bittersweet Jack when two or more are being served. Apricot brandy works as well as apricot liqueur in this mix. If Jack Daniel’s is not available, another bourbon with high corn mash is recommended (see bourbon mash listings at link provided). https://keetscocktails.com/whiskey-mash-comparisons-u-s/
