American Pie Cocktail

From Guy Fieri and the Food Network comes the AMERICAN PIE COCKTAIL. It’s easy to make and combines a surprisingly pleasing blend of cranberry juice, apple liqueur and whiskey. It’s surprising only because the cocktail’s name sounds like it would be more a dessert drink and because the apple liqueur and cranberry juice didn’t initially make sense, on paper. But it’s a fresh, beautifully tasting blend that would be a good party punch as well as an individual drink detailed below.

Requirements: whiskey (Canadian preferred), apple liqueur (apple schnapps), cranberry juice, apple slice or wedge (optional)

  • 2 oz. whiskey
  • 2 oz. apple liqueur
  • 4 oz. cranberry juice
  • 1 apple wedge or slice (optional garnish)

Add the liquid ingredients to an ice-filled shaker. Shake to chill and strain into a chilled rocks glass filled with ice. Garnish with an apple slice or wedge (optional).

Comments: The original published version yielded two drinks, the same proportions: 1/2 cup whiskey, 1/2 cup apple liqueur, 1 cup cranberry juice, 2 cups ice. My mix contained Irish whiskey and was also delicious.
