Unhealthy Cocktails to Avoid

An article was published a while ago about eight unhealthy cocktails to avoid. Contributed by Clara Hogan to Liquor.com, she names the following cocktails which are so rich in sugar and/or fat (from cream) that you’re not doing yourself any favors drinking them. I totally agree.

  • Eggnog
  • Long Island Iced Tea
  • Mudslide
  • White Russian
  • Daiquiri
  • Margarita (Applebee’s or others that use sour mix)
  • Mai Tai
  • Pina Colada

Another source produced a news report video (see link below) adding the following additionals to avoid:

  • Mojito (or any mint drink ordered at a bar where the mint probably isn’t fresh). Also, bartenders hate making them, because they take so much time.
  • Sangria – There’s no telling what the sugar content really is in the mix.
  • Moscow Mule – A study showed that copper mugs might leak copper into the drink due to the acid PH from the lime juice, causing copper poisoning.
  • Mimosa – Restaurants serving bottomless mimosas are giving you more sugar than drink.
