Scarlett O’Hara

Created shortly after its 1939 release, the SCARLETT O’HARA cocktail is named after the heroine in Gone With the Wind. It combines the whiskey-based fruit and spice flavors of Southern Comfort with cranberry juice and lime juice. Although it has lost some of its original popularity, primarily due to other cocktails overshadowing it, the mix still has the same refreshing appeal that inspired drinks like the Cape Codder and Cosmo. It pairs perfectly with the Rhett Butler, which combines bourbon with cranberry juice and lime.
Requirements: Southern Comfort, cranberry juice, fresh lime juice
- 2 oz. Southern Comfort
- 2 oz. cranberry juice
- 1/2 oz. lime juice
Add the ingredients to an ice-filled shaker. Shake vigorously and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Comments: The tartness can be adjusted to personal taste by adding more or less lime juice. For those who prefer extra lime, the cocktail can be garnished with a lime wedge for squeezing.
