Scarlett O’Hara

Created shortly after its 1939 release, the SCARLETT O’HARA cocktail was named after the heroine in Gone With the Wind. It combines the whiskey-based fruit and spice flavors of Southern Comfort with cranberry juice and lime juice. It has lost some of its original popularity for no particular reason apart from other cocktail entrees pushing it aside. But the mix still has the same refreshing appeal which other cocktails like the Cape Codder and Cosmo borrowed from. It’s a perfect cocktail pairing with the Rhett Butler which combines bourbon with cranberry juice & lime.
Requirements: Southern Comfort, cranberry juice, fresh lime juice
- 2 oz. Southern Comfort
- 2 oz. cranberry juice
- 1/2 oz. lime juice
Add ingredients to an ice-filled shaker. Shake vigorously and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Comments: The amount of tartness can be adjusted to one’s taste by adding additional or less lime juice. It can be garnished with a lime wedge for the imbiber to squeeze if more lime juice is preferred.
