Chapel Hill

When lemon and orange flavoring are mixed with bourbon, good things happen. The CHAPEL HILL is one such drink and is delicious. This citrusy refresher is enjoyed by everyone, even those who ordinarily don’t drink bourbon. It’s a house favorite.
Requirements: Bourbon, Cointreau, simple syrup, lemon juice, orange juice & orange peel garnish
- 3 oz. bourbon
- 1 oz. Cointreau
- 1 oz. lemon juice
- 1/2 oz. orange juice
- 1-2 tsp. simple syrup
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Combine liquid ingredients. Rim a martini or coup glass with an orange peel and drop it into the glass. Shake drink vigorously and strain into glass (For a double serving, see video tutorial below).
Comments: This cocktail of cocktails was previously posted as the Gold Rush-Expanded. After noting that a Gold Rush already exists in some cocktail circles as just a Whiskey Sour sweetened with honey, it was decided to identify the recipe above as the cocktail it’s more closely aligned, the Chapel Hill. It’s a perfect drink for the home bartender because finding it on a bar’s cocktail menu is next to impossible. The proportions above and orange juice addition are unique to this listing and considered by many imbibers and Keet’s Cocktails — perfection.
