Cape Codder
The CAPE CODDER is a stripped-down version of a Cosmopolitan. It’s merely vodka and cranberry juice with a squeeze of lime. The simplicity of it makes it a popular choice for those without orange liqueur or enough time to measure out multiple ingredients. With a 2:1 ratio of cranberry juice-to-vodka, it’s hard for a bartender or one’s self to mess up. For those fans of cranberry juice cocktails this is quick and easy, especially for summer get-togethers or dinner parties.
- 2 oz. vodka
- 4 (or 5) oz. cranberry juice
- 1/2 oz.(or 1 squeeze of lime wedge) lime juice
- 1 lime wedge garnish
Add ingredients to an ice-filled shaker. Shake vigorously and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a lime wedge. If lime was not already added to the shaken mix, squeeze the lime wedge over the glass and drop in.
Comments: For a sweeter Cape Codder, use 5 oz. cranberry juice with 2 oz. vodka. Usually the more lime used, the more cranberry juice needed to offset its tartness.
